Abstract

The treatise is based on the notion of literary realism in its generally accepted meaning that developed in 1830. In the 20th century with a variety of late and »neo-« realisms the status of literary realism becomes problematic. Different uses of the term realism are described for different scholarly disciplines and arts. The discussion focuses in particular on the theory of Joseph P. Stern and Wittgenstein's philosophy from which the theoretical specificities of the term »realism« and its consequences in realistic literature and arts are derived. This is followed by an overview of traditional approaches to the research of realism that is based on the problem of representation. The text explicates »the debate on expressionism« and concludes the first part with an additional consideration of the typological concept of realism. The second part confronts literature as the verbal artistic medium with the filed of new media. The treatise presents different communication models that order the new media textuality: text as game and the concept of the digital community are considered on the grounds of the theory of cybertext by Espen J. Aarseth. Theoretical problems involved in the mechanical construction of texts are presented. The second part ends with the discussion of the categorical obstacles in computer simulation of language. The last section presents the junction of new media art communication and realism. The treatise focuses on the notion of the archive on the level of theory and in various artistic poetics and practices. Walter Benjamin's theory of allegory is explained as a variant of the theory of archive, which is not realistic. The last chapter describes the concept of the realistic way as a discursive definition of realism that was developed from Peirce's pragmatism by Hans Vilmar Geppert. The 19th century literary realism is proposed as a model answer for the time of crisis that encompasses the globalized world.

Razprava izhaja iz literarnega realizma v splošno sprejeti obliki z začetkom leta 1830. V 20. stoletju s poznimi in »neo« oblikami realizma je status literarnega realizma manj neproblematičen. Besedilo obravnava različne rabe izraza realizem v različnih vedah in umetnostih, nato pa se prek teorije Josepha P. Sterna in Wittgensteinove filozofije posveti teoretskim specifikam izraza »realizem« ter posledicam te specifike za literarni in umetnostni realizem. Sledi pregled tradicionalnih pristopov k raziskovanju realizma, ki izhajajo iz problema posnemanja. Obravnavana je »debata o ekspresionizmu«. Sklep prvega dela poglobi razumevanje pojma realizem prek obravnave tipoloških pristopov. Drugi del sooča literaturo kot besedilnost na področju umetnosti s poljem novomedijskega. Razprava pokaže na različne komunikacijske modele urejanja novomedijske besedilnosti: tekst kot igra in koncept digitalne skupnosti sta izpeljana na podlagi teorije kiberteksta Espena J. Aarsetha. Opisani so teoretski problemi mehanične gradnje besedil. Drugi del zaključi obravnava načelnih zadržkov za računalniško simulacijo jezika. Zadnji del premisli stik med pojavi novomedijske umetniške komunikacije in realizmom. Razprava se posveti konceptu arhiva tako na teoretski ravni kot na ravni umetniških poetik. Teorijo alegorije Walterja Benjamina besedilo razume kot varianto teorije arhiva, ki ni realistična. Sklepno poglavje opiše koncept realistične poti kot diskurzivno definicijo realizma, kot jo iz Peirceovega pragmaticizma izpelje Hans Vilmar Geppert. Realizem literature 19. stoletja je predstavljen kot modelni odgovor na krizno stanje, ki obsega globalizirani svet.
