 DEAR COLLEAGUES,

It is a great honour and pleasure for me to invite you to take part in the 11th Congress of South-
East European Studies of AIESEE, which will take place in Sofia from 31 August to 4
September 2015 on the following topic: South-East Europe and European Integration:
Political, Socioeconomic and Social Aspects.
The organisers of this prestigious academic forum, which will be held for the third time in
the capital of Bulgaria, are the Bulgarian National Committee for Balkan Studies and the Institute
of Balkan Studies with Centre of Thracology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Bulgaria
hosted the First Congress of South-East European Studies in 1966, as well as the Sixth Congress
of South-East European Studies in the remote 1989, when the global academic elite in the sphere
of South-East European studies gathered in the Bulgarian capital. Irrespective of the complicated
situation in which humanities are today, our ambition as organisers and as part of the
International Association for South-East European Studies is to perpetuate that tradition from the
past by offering an opportunity to scholars with different academic profiles to present the most
recent results of their research, which are directly linked to the history and to the present of
South-East Europe.
After discussing the suggestions received, the Organising Committee approved topics for
the sessions (plenary meetings and round table discussions), which can be seen at the Congress
website: www.balkanstudies.bg/congress2015. The official working languages of the 11th
International Congress of South-East European Studies are English and French. It is also possible
to submit papers and to participate in the organised round table discussions also in Russian,
German and Italian.
Please send us proposals for papers for one of the approved sessions or round table
discussions focusing on key issues. In addition to the theme, your application must also include a
summary up to 500 words and a short CV. We expect your applications in one of the two official
languages of the congress - English or French - not later than 10 January 2015, sent
simultaneously to the e-mail of the respective session organiser and to the Congress e-mail:
with a copy to AIESEE e-mail: .
The approved proposals for papers or for participation in the round table discussions will
be announced by 25 January 2015, and the registration of the participants will start on 1.
February 2015.
For further information on the participation fee, the programme and all other relevant
details, please visit the website of the upcoming forum: www.balkanstudies.bg/congress2015.
The travel expenses, per diems and hotel accommodation are to be covered by the participants.
To the extent possible, the Organising Committee will offer some financial facilitation to some of
the participants. The terms and conditions are to be announced later on the website of the
congress.
I take this opportunity to express in advance my gratitude for the professional interest and
commitment demonstrated in the course of the preparation and holding of the 11th Congress of
South-East European Studies.
Yours sincerely,
Prof. Alexandre Kostov
President of the Organising Committee

- dans le domaine de l'imaginaire littéraire : mythes, personnages, idées politiques sur l'intégration dans les textes de fiction ;
- dans les ouvrages de littérature comparée et d'histoire littéraire de l'Europe ;
