 Associate professor of Comparative Literature, Alexandra Vranceanu is member of the Department of Literary Studies, Faculty of Letters, member of the  «Tudor Vianu» Centre of Interdisciplinary Research in European and Romanian Cultural Studies  and of the Centre of Excellence for the Study of the Image (CESI) at the University of Bucharest. Her teaching and research interests include comparative literature, interart studies, rhetoric (the study of ekphrasis in the contemporary novel), migrant literature. She has offered courses and seminars at the undergraduate and graduate levels in all the fields of interest mentioned above. She has also taught at the University of Saint Etienne (France) and at the University of Padova (Italy).

She has also given invited lectures and talks at the University of Paris Est Val-de-Marne, Padova, Toulouse, Calabria and she has received research grants and Fellowhips form Agence Universitaire de la Francophionie, Ministero degli esteri italiano,  Ministerul de Învățământ and has been affiliated with the University of Paris Est Val-de Marne, Liege, Roma La Sapienza.

She co-organized international conferences National Literatures in the Age of Globalisation. The Issue of the Canon (Bucharest, 2008), Le metamorfosi dell’humanitas nell’Europa della migrazione fra letteratura, medicina e società (Roma, 2010), Terra aliena. L’exil des intellectuels européens du Moyen Age jusqu’à la période contemporaine (Padova, 2012).

Her publications include Meridiani della migrazione nella letteratura romena da Ureche a Cioran (2012), Quelques aventures de l’ekphrasis dans la littérature contemporaine (2011), Tabloul din cuvinte (2010) as well as articles and studies in scholarly journals and the literary press. She is editor of Text(e)/Image. Interferences. Etudes critiques. Critical Studies (2009) and co-editor of Migrazione e patologie dell’humanitas nella letteratura europea contemporanea (2012).
