Marijan Dović, born in 1974 in Zagreb (Croatia), has studied comparative and Slovene literature in Ljubljana and graduated in 1999. Since 2000 he has worked as a young Researcher at the Institute of Slovenian Literature and Literary Science of the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. In 2003 he finished his master degree with professors dr. Tomo Virk and dr. Marko Juvan and in 2006 he finished his doctor thesis entitled The Slovene Writer: Development of the Literary Producer in the Slovene Literary System. As a student he started to publish papers in various magazines and science reviews and took part in conferences, concentrating mainly on the literary canon, the theory of evaluation and the contemporary systems theory of literature, as well as the historical avant-garde. Recently he published a theoretical book entitled Sistemske in empirične obravnave literature (Systemic and Empirical Approaches to Literature, 2004). At the moment he is researching the problems of authorship and the development of literary producer in Slovenian literary system. He organized two national scientific meetings (on the problems of Slovene historical avant-guarde and Janez Trdina, a writer from 19th century) and co-organized several other scientific meetengs (eg. International Comparative Literature Colloquiums at Vilenica, from 2002 on). He edited several books (on Podbevšek, Trdina ...). He is an active member of IGEL (Internationale Gesellschaft für empirische Literaturwissenschaft) and ICLA (International Comparative Literature Organisation). In the years 2002-2006 he was the secretary of the Slovene Comparative Literature Asssociation, and from 2006 he is a vice-president of the association.
