Ricardo Gil Soeiro (PhD) is a Researcher at the Centre for Comparative Studies (University of Lisbon), a poet, and an essayist. He teaches the M.A. Course “Memory and Literature in a globalised culture” (in association with UCL, London, and University of Aarhus, Denmark), as well as “Contemporary Portuguese Literature” at the University of Lisbon. He has obtained his PhD in Literary Studies at the University of Lisbon and his wide-ranging interests (on which he has published several essays) include Contemporary Portuguese Poetry, German Literature, the Holocaust Studies, Philosophy, Comparative Studies, Hermeneutics, and Memory Studies. He has published: O Pensamento Tornado Dança (Lisbon: Roma Editora, 2009), Gramática da Esperança (Lisbon: Vega, 2009), Iminência do Encontro (Lisbon: Roma Editora, 2009), A Alegria do Sim na Tristeza do Finito (Lisbon: Apenas Livros Editora, 2009), O alfabeto dos astros (Matosinhos: Edium Editores, 2010, poetry), and Caligraphia do Espanto (Vila Nova de Famalicão, Edições Húmus, 2010, poetry). He is member of the European Network for Comparative Literary Studies, of the American Portuguese Studies Association, of the Associazione per gli studi di teoria e storia comparata della letteratura, and of the IAB - Internationaler Arbeitskreis Broch. He is also columnist of Revista Autor and member of the Editorial Board of Gewebe - Grupo de Estudos Walter Benjamin.
