I am a researcher of Comparative Literature in DCU. I graduated from University College Dublin with joint majors in Irish and English. I am also a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, where I completed an MPhil in Comparative Literature.
I am currently researching the comparative relationship between Irish language and African-American writers. Both minority groups have a shared history and both suffered similar effects because of subjugation and colonial rule. Irish language and African-American writers acknowledge each other in their literature. I hope to deconstruct national and group stereotypes using imagology and illustrate the dangers of stereotyping. I feel that this is necessary in any multi-cultural society in the 21st Century.
